Shooting Starz Productions began with a childhood dream. Steph Caron (formerly Steph Bates), wrote and directed her first original play at age 12 in 2004. She gathered neighborhood children, including her siblings, to be the actors. Each production would benefit a different charity.
In the years following, Steph continued to write original productions. Her mother helped her write her first business letters at age 13 to begin looking for a performance venue. In 2006, Shooting Starz Productions was officially founded and the group began donating admission from performances to Feed My Starving Children. SSP has donated over $10,000 to FMSC from 2006-2018. They received an award from FMSC in the summer of 2017. SSP's ticket fees currently go directly towards performance costs and growth of the company. Shooting Starz Productions operates as a small business. Thank you for supporting us!
Shooting Starz has performed at a variety of venues including Steph's childhood backyard (2004-2005), Brookdale Shopping Center (2006-2010), Champlin Ice Forum (2011-2012), Servant of Christ Lutheran Church (2013-2018), Lincoln Elementary School's Auditorium (2016-2018), a variety of high school auditoriums in the surrounding suburbs (2018-2019), Elision Playhouse (Winter 2019, Currently perform here) and Nowthen Alliance Church (2020-2022).
Shooting Starz Productions has been performing well known musicals in most recent years. Cinderella (2016), Oz (2017), Annie Jr. (2018), Peter Pan Jr. (2018), Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (2018), Beauty & the Beast Jr. (2019), The Little Mermaid (2019) & Aladdin Jr. (2019). The Greatest Show (2019), featured musical numbers from The Greatest Showman movie. Our most recent shows include High School Musical One Act Edition (2020), Descendants the Musical (2021), Seussical Kids (2021), Elf Jr. (2021) , Annie Jr. (2022), The Wizard of Oz (2023) and High School Musical 2 Jr. (2023).
SSP began producing an annual Family Cast Show in 2018 in which parents could act with their kids! Stay tuned for the next Family Cast production.
Shooting Starz Productions has produced 29 musicals and a number of theatre camps for children and teens ages Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our next full production, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr. will begin rehearsing in August 2023 with performances in December 2023.
